LPI performs specialized tasks for the aerospace industry that focuses primarily on failure of components and structures utilized in aircraft. Work is performed both on the military projects as well as commercial projects. Failure analysis can result in recommendations for improvements that will both prevent future failures and enhance overall reliability.

LPI performs projects on equipment and structures used in both the petro-chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing and other chemical processing plants. The assessments performed can include determinations of the cause of failure, determination of fitness for continued service for degraded conditions, and assessment and recommendations on reliability of equipment.
